AKRON, Ohio — A man is facing multiple prison charges following law enforcement say he walked into a Dollar Basic retailer armed with what appeared to be a handgun and took a package of rest room paper.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Rodney Willis, 39, entered the retail store at 19 N. Arlington St. in the Middlebury community at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Willis experienced a suspected firearm in his waistband and demanded to chat with the store’s supervisor, law enforcement say.
Willis, who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated, walked to the rear of the shop and took a pack of rest room paper, all while maintaining a hand on the suspected gun, employees inform law enforcement. He then walked out of the retailer.
Police arrested Willis with out incident at a residence on the 800 block of Financial institution Avenue. A BB gun was located subsequent to in which Willis was located sleeping, police say.
Police say Willis is accused of making threats final month to rob the shop. He was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of aggravated theft, carrying a concealed weapon, and theft.
